About Simultaneous Interpretation
- What is Simultaneous Interpretation? (Software module for controlling and monitoring conferences, supports up to 15 interpreter booths, each with up to six desks. Options include specifying languages for channels and desk outputs, microphone interlock mode, configuration files management, online monitoring, and printing.)
Interpretation procedures
- Normal operation (Floor language interpreted into assigned languages, delegates select channels.)
- A and B outputs (Each interpreter unit has two outputs; A for normal output language, B for an alternative.)
- Relay interpretation (Used when floor language is not understood, transfer interpretation, can be manual or automatic.)
- Microphone settings (Three modes: interlock, override, or neither. Configurable within or between booths.)

Starting Simultaneous Interpretation
- The DCN Startup screen (Program launched from here.)
- Selecting an installation- (and a names) file (Requires an 'installation file' for correct function.)

Using Help

Assigning languages to channels
- Choosing a language list (English, French, or custom lists.)

Assigning languages to desks

- Enabling the auto relay facility (Configures booth for automatic relay. At least one desk in the booth must have B output selected.)
Altering microphone settings
- Specifying microphone interlocks (Between booths and within booths: None, Interlock, Override. Option for 'on B only' for between booths override.)
Working with interpreter configuration files
- Creating a new interpreter configuration file

Exiting Simultaneous Interpretation
- Temporarily exiting Simultaneous Interpretation (Minimizing to Windows desktop.)
- Permanently exiting Simultaneous Interpretation (Exiting the program, with prompts to save changes.)

Simultaneous Interpretation when more than 15 interpreter channels are selected
- Differences in functionality (CCU dedicated to interpretation, special hardware needed. Max 30 channels, 30 booths, 120 desks.)
- Selecting more than 15 interpreter channels (Via DCN.INI file: Channels=#, where # is 16-30. Single CCU systems only.)
- Functionality is identical, screens adjust for extra channels.
